Photography is my favorite means of storytelling.

But I first fell in love with words.

I grew up in the Blue Ridge Valley of Virginia with three brothers and a backyard full of animals. My dad gave me a blank book every Christmas and I filled up a trunk of them, convinced I would be a writer. In high school, I edited the school newspaper and loved the process of delivering a story. Pencils, keyboards, paperclips, booger-pickers (special erasers that remove glue!) and scissors.

In college, I briefly worked as an editor, but was drawn away by the darkroom. It seemed like pure magic that the chemicals on a piece of paper would react with the developer in such a way that an image you saw occurs right there out in the air.

The mushrooming speed of technology's power baffles me a little bit, but I'm embracing it as best I can, and using the best digital cameras available. The quality and speed of creating and printing a photo with a digital camera is staggering.

My clients are recording artists, writers, visual performers, families, and most of all: people in love.
